What are BitPresidents?
BitPresidents are pixel art portraits of the Presidents of the United States. Each BitPresident is a custom piece of digital art designed by the BitPresidents team. There will be one BitPresident for each of the 46 United States Presidents*. Each BitPresident is a 1/1 piece minted on an ERC-1155 Non-Fungible Token on OpenSea.
*If a President served two or more consecutive terms in office, only one BitPresident will be created to represent them. If a President served non-consecutive terms, a BitPresident will be created for each instance of them taking office.
When are BitPresidents Minted?
BitPresidents are minted and put up for sale on OpenSea in the order that their real-world counterparts took office. The first four BitPresidents (George BitWashington through James BitMadison) were minted on February 19, 2021. The next four BitPresidents (James BitMonroe through Martin BitVan Buren) were minted on February 20, 2021. From there, one BitPresident has been minted per day.
At the time of writing, 16 BitPresidents have been minted, with the latest being Abraham BitLincoln. From here, the trend of minting one BitPresident per day will continue until Joe BitBiden is minted on March 30, 2021. A full release schedule is available on our homepage.
What Traits do BitPresidents Carry?
Unlike most NFT projects, the traits listed for each BitPresident have nothing to do with their design. The listed traits are all facts from their respective histories. Each BitPresident will carry four historical traits, with varying levels of rarity. This allows BitPresident collectors to learn about history, while collecting these tokens. As well, because all traits are based on a real-life President’s history, savvy users can assess which BitPresidents will carry the rarest traits before they are released!
The four BitPresident traits are as follows:
Party
BitPresidents will carry a trait that represents their political party affiliation during their time in office. Party affiliations from before or after their time as President will not be listed. All party affiliation traits were taken from this List of United States Presidents*
*Unaffiliated was changed to Independent
Once all 46 BitPresidents are minted, the following Party trait distribution will be observed:
Note: some Presidents had multiple party affiliations during their time in office, so they will carry multiple Party traits.
State
BitPresidents will also carry a trait that represents their primary state affiliation. Some Presidents have connections to multiple states through their history (i.e. birthplace, previously held office, etc.). Only a President’s primary state affiliation (as listed here) will be used to populate their State trait.
Once all 46 BitPresidents are minted, the following State trait distribution will be observed:
Presidential Elections Won
The number of Presidential Elections a President won will be represented as a numbered trait in their respective BitPresident. This metric was selected over terms in office due to the challenges of representing partial terms for Presidents who died in office (and those who took their place). Presidents that took office after another’s untimely death (and did not go on to win a future election) will be given a value of 0 for this trait.
Once all 46 BitPresidents are minted, the following Presidential Elections Won trait distribution will be observed:
Century
Finally, all BitPresidents will carry a trait that represents the century in which they held office. For Presidents that held office during the turn of a century, their respective BitPresidents will hold two century traits.
Once all 46 BitPresidents are minted, the following Century trait distribution will be observed:
How much do BitPresidents Cost?
BitPresidents will be put up for sale on the OpenSea marketplace as they are minted. They will use the following pricing calculation:
BitPresident Number x 0.01 ETH = Price (in ETH)
For example, George BitWashington is the first BitPresident, so his price will be 1 x 0.01 ETH = 0.01 ETH. Joe BitBiden, being a later BitPresident, will come at a higher mint price (46 x 0.01 ETH = 0.46 ETH). This pricing structure allows early adopters to get BitPresidents at a more affordable price.
Once a BitPresident is purchased, the new owner can choose whatever price they wish, should they choose to list it for sale. They are also welcome to hold on to their BitPresident and keep it in their collection.
